BDSM & The Law

BDSM & The Law, Sunday November 13, 2011

Incredibly how little we really know about BDSM and the law and more importantly, what is really legal and what we can get in trouble for. Very important workshop! If you missed it, sign up for last chance Nov.23rd.

Three points I took away:
1) BDSM IS NOT ILLEGAL IN CANADA!!!
2) It is very important that “STOP”, “NO” and “YES” really mean what they mean. Safewords are not reliable!!!
3) You have a responsibility as a parent to keep your kinky things locked and out of sight of your children.

Exhibitionists! WOO!

Exhibitionist Group, Sunday November 13, 2011

This pilot group was a hit… of course lacking diversity of genders as usual but extremely interesting and fun nonetheless. It’s amazing where conversation can go when it has the freedom to go there… what didn’t we talk about? Some fabulous ideas for activities we can host came up: bachelor/ette auction, nude art and drawing and more! I’m really impressed, so many interesting people with varying experiences and lifestyles… Spain seems to be the place for exhibitionists! Can you think of why?

Just Starting Out? Well We Have A Beginners Class!

Well, no matter how hard I try, there is just NO way to cover BDSM basics in an hour an a half. Usually this class is a seminar (3-4 hours) but that is just too long for a Wednesday night. However, we had a record turn-out so thank you all for coming. SAKA (Sexuality and Kink Advocacy) McGill group brought a few people with them and I was happily surprised to see so many long time experienced BDSM’ers attending. Thanks to my lovely demo model Glovedsub… X marks the spot haha (inside joke).

October Poly Meet

On Sunday the ALCC held its monthly Polyamorous Group, which was very well attended. There was lots of good discussion in both languages. Included in the discussion was how some came out to friends and family as poly, and how to address for instance when someone expresses interest in you (like “do you have a girlfriend?” being asked… Read the rest of this entry

Take Care of Yourself

The ALCC has members taking PSA (Peer Support and Advocacy) training at the 2110 Center for Gender Diversity, and one of the workshops was on Self Care in regards to peer support on October 6.

I found this workshop helpful, not just for peer support, but as well for pretty much most things in life.

Self care is essentially being Read the rest of this entry

Relationship Manifesting

Pierre Black presented an interesting workshop on relations manifesting. After asking what the people attending were into, he customised the workshop to answer their problems. We had some very diverse problems but he helped everyone.

Gender Can Be Diverse

Gender Diversity Group (Former Trans Unite Group) Sunday October 9, 2011

The ALCC’s Trans Unite Group has been renamed the Gender Diversity Group, to be more clear that it is and always open to all gender identity variations. As well, it has changed to a new location – the 2110 Center For Gender Diversity on Mackay. This location is a bit more accessible, and for those who may be put off by any security guards at the entrance, there are none. A huge thank you to the 2110 Center for allowing us to kindly use their space! Read the rest of this entry

What can be done with wax

What can be done with wax

This was another very interesting workshop.  Contessa Alura talked about the different type of candles.  What to use and what not to use.  Also how to prepare the play area and security items you should have when doing wax play.  She then started her demonstration on her lovely model.  After dripping some wax on him, she decided to blindfold him so Read the rest of this entry

A sexual orientation often forgotten!!!

Asexuality Workshop

Warren and Kyran provided us with an illuminating workshop on Asexuality. One way of defining  an asexual person is as: someone who does not experience directed sexual attraction. Just getting into that definition led to some very interesting conversation, questions and comments.  Asexuality is a sexual orientation, rather than a lifestyle in itself. But the issues surrounding it made Read the rest of this entry
